2014-2015 Fifth Grade Memory Book Online

Welcome to the planning page for 2014-2015 Project Upgrade.

This year we have decided to move to a push-in model for G&T/Project Upgrade. The objective is to support, enrich, and add another dimension to the content and projects being provided within the classroom.

Feel free to discuss, or email comments and questions to mcahill@wbps.org.

As of March 2015:
Fifth graders are using WeVideo as a primary tool, but mashing in content created in other apps such asPizap or online media converters, to create a multimedia presentation of their "Where I'm From" poems. All media forms are stored and shared via Google Drive.

Third grade is learning keyboarding using TypingWeb and productivity software as part of push-in enrichment. G&T students will be trained as class helpers for apps and software. Students can practice at home; they have their own usernames and passwords.

Besides posture, we are Developing a Digital Citizenship perspective:

October 2014: Fifth grade enrichment will include adding a multimedia extension, some type of digital storytelling, to personal narrative writing, and G&T students will be trained in Google and/or other apps and be able to consult with other students.

9/30/14 Second grade Multicultural Folk Dance Celebration was a success! Short video here:

9/17/14 update: Second grade enrichment is underway.

9/11/14 update:

All students in second grade are currently being assessed using SAGES-2.
Next week we will begin enrichment with an artist-in-residence, Joanna Pang Atkins, learning about the world and different countries. Children will be learning a dance and presenting a show on the evening of 9/30 for parents.

Students in third grade will be learning productivity software (specifically MS Word), and Google Docs.
